Inspired by their Liberian family, husband and wife team, Fred and Perteet Spencer, launched AYO Foods in mid-2020 with the goal of making it easier for people to experience the food of the West African diaspora.  “After making extra trips to get the right ingredients, followed by hours of slow cooking to get just the right layered flavors, we knew there was a better way that would allow people to enjoy this incredible food anywhere, any time.” Perteet said.

AYO, which means joy in Yoruba, features nutrient-dense, flavor-rich, frozen entrees that are conveniently packaged and easy to prepare. The dishes are a celebration of West African culture and food, which is significantly underrepresented in the US food and grocery landscape.

In 2021, we’ll be creating a number of opportunities to allow people to #EXPLOREWITHAYO.  We hope you will join us on this exciting journey across West Africa!
